Indigenous Knowledges and Perspectives

The Strategic Plan 2021 -2024 outlines 6 goals to work towards UniSC's vision "to become Australia's premier regional university".

The Strategy aims to enhance student participation, success, and completion, along with Indigenising curricula, inculcating Indigenous Knowledges and perspectives, and cultural capability.

The Framework supports developing and maintaining meaningful partnerships between UniSC and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, organisations, groups and communities located across the University's geographical footprint.

The Framework consists of 7 guiding principles and provides a whole of university approach to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Knowledges and perspectives across all programs and courses.

The ISSP Committee advises on activities funded by the Indigenous Student Success Program (ISSP) grants. This includes the effectiveness of programs, impact, and alignment to University Strategies and legislative requirements. The committee reports to the Vice-Chancellor and President.

UniSC's Reconciliation Charter articulates the University's commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in alignment with the Strategic Plan 2021 - 2024 and ensures this commitment is not only embedded in our goals and plans but also, in our values and our community.

The Governing Policy enables UniSC to undertake appropriate and reasonable measures to ensure equity of access and participation in all aspects of university life for its staff, current and prospective students and other members of the university community. A key action is to develop plans and programs to increase access to employment and education with and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
