DIY Games for Non-Hackers

About Unreal Engine 4

Unreal Engine helps you create 3D games using Blueprints.  This is by far the most complicated of all the tools recommended in this guide, but there is lots of help out there.

The Blueprint is like the Event Sheet in Construct2, as it controls how the game runs.  The difference is that each objects (known as Assets) get's its own Blueprint.  Each Level of the game is known as a Map.

The program includes Content Examples, which are Maps that cover different features of teh game (e.g. Lighting, Movement, Meshes etc).

UE4 Blueprints

This is a sample blueprint in from a game of Pong and it controls Artificial Intelligence (AI) paddle for the single player game.

If you have downloaded UE4, explore the Content Examples to learn more about the kinds of games you can make.
