Use eBooks

Software for downloading eBooks

Before you can download an eBook on your computer or laptop, you need to install Adobe Digital Editions. Adobe Digital Editions is a software program that enables you to read and manage eBooks and other digital publications on your device. With the program you are able to:

  • Download eBooks in ePUB or PDF format to read offline for a loan period
  • Organise eBooks in a personal library
  • Bookmark pages and add notes
  • Transfer eBooks to other devices e.g. from computer to mobile

Once you have downloaded Adobe Digital Editions you will be prompted to create an Adobe ID. You will need this ID to authorise your device and download eBooks.

See the Adobe Digital Editions FAQs for more information.

Web Browser

When downloading an eBook your web browser (Internet Explore, Chrome) may prompt you to either Open or Save the eBook file. It is recommended to Open the file, which will launch Adobe Digital Editions on your computer.

Expired eBooks

At the end of the designated eBook download period, eBooks will remain on your  computer or device, but they will expire and become unreadable. To avoid confusion, you can delete the expired eBooks. If you still require the eBook, you can download it for another loan period.
