Backup your EndNote library regularly or whenever you make many additions or changes
There are several ways to backup your EndNote library:
1. Create a compressed EndNote library -the preferred option (see image below)

This will turn your .enl filetype into .enlx
Save your compressed back up library in at least one secure place: preferably your own student or staff drive at University, Microsoft OneDrive or another cloud drive (ie. Google, iCloud). Please note, if you need to use your compressed back up library, you will first need to save it onto a desktop, as Endnote does not work from a cloud drive.
Alternatively, send the compressed library to your e-mail address as an attachment (this will not work for files that are too large).
Give your compressed backup a recognizable name with date so you can recognize versions. eg. MyReferences25June18.enlx
Do NOT email, save or run an uncompressed EndNote library to or from a cloud environment, such as Dropbox or Google Drive. This will eventually corrupt or damage your library.
2. Sync to Endnote online version (see separate Library Guide for full details).
This uploads your entire set of references to your account at https://endnote.com/weblogin/.
You can only sync one library to one account.
You can only sync 'manual' groups, not Smart Groups nor group sets.
