Course Readings

Create course reading lists in Blackboard Courses

Course Readings Overview

Course Readings is the reading list management system for USC. This system offers a number of advantages for course coordinators and students. It enables the course coordinator to develop a reading list within a Blackboard course site and submit to the Library for processing.

Course Coordinator Benefits

You can :

  • Continue using reading lists from previous semesters. Reading lists roll over every teaching period.
  • Create interactive lists of citations from a range of sources - USC Library, YouTube, Streaming Video, Websites
  • Monitor student engagement with course resources through the system analytics
  • Easily update content at any stage of the semester
  • Reuse elements or duplicate whole lists for other courses
  • Include your tutors as collaborators to allow them to edit the list

Student Benefits

  • A comprehensive reading list can be accessed from their course Blackboard site
  • Linked directly to the online full text for their resources
  • Easy to navigate and access resources
  • Student can interact with the lists and recommend resources to peers (optional feature moderated by the Course Coordinator)

There are Guided Tours within your reading list that demonstrate:

  • Adding and editing list items
  • How to manage the reading list
  • Granting access to students

More specific online tutorials are included within each of the three sections.

For additional support please contact your Liaison Librarian to organise an appointment for training and support.
