Reference management software for your research

Online Search

Online Search allows you to directly search a remote server (peer-to-peer) and import references you find there directly into your Endnote library. This is a very fast and efficient way to find books and import their references as hundred of the world's major libraries are searchable.

It is also a good way to search the PubMed database and import its records.

Use major libraries to find records for almost any published book, for example:

  • Library of Congress- one of the world'd largest libraries
  • Libraries Australia- holdings of most Australian libraries, including USC
  • University of Queensland, Sydney, NSW, Melbourne etc etc.
  • For USC Catalogue - see the box at the bottom of this page

Start a search

  • Click the "spyglass icon
  • Choose library or database from alphabetical list
  • Click Choose

Online Search in Endnote

USC Library Catalogue Search

You can use Online Search (Spyglass icon) to search the USC Library catalogue and download records into Endnote.

Unfortunately, the file to search the USC catalogue is not a standard inclusion with Endnote, but follow these steps to install the connection file and use it to import catalogue records.

Install the file

On USC Lab computers (Win7)

  • In Windows Explorer (or My Computer) create a folder called Endnote under Libraries/Documents (your personal space on the USC network).
  • Create another folder called Connections inside it. You should then have this available:
    • Libraries\Documents\Endnote\Connections
  • Download the connection file (link below) and save it into this Connections folder.  Endnote will now look in this folder for the correct style.

On your personal PC or Mac

  • Check in Endnote where your Endnote styles folder sits.  (Probably at C:\Program Files\Endnote or Documents\Endnote\Styles)
    • References > Preferences > Folder Locations > Style Folder. This will give the name and location of your Endnote folder.
  • If there is not a Connections folder in it, create it:
    • Use the naming format EndNote\Connections.
  • Download the connection file (link below) and save it into this Styles folder.  Endnote will now look in this folder for the correct style.

When you click the Spyglass icon, "U Sunshine Coast" should now appear in the pop-up list as a search option.
