You need to sign up for an individual account to keep your own references. The library provides this service as part of our online database subscriptions, but your account is your own to manage.
Warning: Do not register directly at Myendnoteweb.com if you are OFF-CAMPUS. This will register you incorrectly. Use the above sequence to ensure you are correctly registered.
Once you have signed up, you do not have to log in through the Web of Science site.
You can go directly to http://myendnoteweb.com/ and log in.
EndNote Online may occasionally ask you to log in through an "authorized computer". Any computer on campus should work, or you can log in through the Web of Science (using your usual ID number and password off campus).
Note: If you get a Security Certificate Error when logging in through Web of Science, you can Accept or Continue without worry. Depending on your browser you may need to go through several steps to accept the "faulty" security certificate. If you are on campus, you can also log in to register or "reauthorize" your account by using this link to Web of Science.
In order to take full advantage of EndNote Online, you should, if possible, install the toolbars and plugins available. There are 2 available, depending on which web browser you use:
If you use Internet Explorer as your primary browser, all you need to do is install the Cite While You Write plugin for MS Word. If you use Firefox, you'll need the extension.
The downloads are available at the bottom of the page once you have logged into EndNote Online, or from the Help pages.
If you do not use MS Word for word processing, you can still use EndNote Online for formatting. You can either format the bibliography in EndNote Online as a separate document (and paste it into your paper) or you can use the "temporary citation layout" and upload your paper into EndNote Web for automatic formatting. Please see the instructions for the temporary citation layout.
If you do not use either Internet Explorer or Firefox as your web browser, you can still import citations into EndNote Online. You will need to download the text file with your citations in EndNote or RIS format, and import them into EndNote Online.
Follow the instructions in the Myendnote Web site. Note espacially system requirements and compatability issues.
Once you have set up your account, you can access EndNote Online at http://www.myendnoteweb.com from any computer with an Internet connection for a period of twelve months. Login using your email address and the password which you chose when you registered.
If at any time you access EndNote Online from a computer with a USC Internet address, your account is automatically extended for a further twelve months.
