Google Images

Google Images is a search engine for locating images online. Search Tools can be used to refine search results. For example, you can refine by size, colour and type of image.

Images come from a variety of online sources and whilst they may freely accessible to look at, they are subject to copyright rules that govern the use of images.

Copyright is a complex topic. Before using an image:

  • Be sure to double-check the terms for the file before downloading or copying
  • Ensure that you have provided a reference (attribution) for the image. Information on referencing an image is provided in USC Style Guides

Creative commons is a type of copyright license that enables the creator to determine how their work may be used, distributed or modified.
